Note: The quality of this frame can not be

appreciated in the small size that this is

above. It is a very detailed frame!

Gold Pattern = Gold Foil

You should be able to right click on it and

save this pattern if you do not have it .

You may already have this pattern in your

PSP... it is used for a lot of tutorials.

Other gold fills can be used in the place of

this. Each choice will render different final

results.. Advice... read afterthoughts at

the bottom of this tutorial.

Please read all the below before getting

started..... OK?!

Preparation ... Before you start:

Resize your graphic to no wider than 364

and height no taller than 304 pixels for the

largest completed size.

For a smaller size choice:

Resize your graphic to no wider than 280 and

height no taller than 234 pixels

Sharpen or do any graphic enhancements at this

time.

Warning: Because of the fine lines that are used with

the Book effect.. if you resize at the end you will ruin

the whole appearance.

The maximum size for width and height given above

will make a frame 550x490…so if you like the headers

that are smaller then resize your graphic accordingly

before you start this tutorial.

Note that saving as a gif will make the file

size larger but will preserve the desired

appearance.

If you save as a jpg, you may need to change

the Chroma SubSampling to the first

selection: YCbCr 1x1 1x1 1x1 (None)

Keep In Mind:

Settings will stay the same on effects unless new

settings are given throughout this tutorial.

When adding borders I will mention only

one color (black) so keep in mind that only

those should be black and all other

borders a different color should be

chosen other than black .

I like using the bright green most of the

time.

I have grouped repetitive border operations

together as a single step.

Save as a gif  or JPG.

Gif will preserve the goldish appearance

and the detail of the frame but may make

your graphic look bad ....

jpg has the tendency to do the opposite.

If you save as a jpg, you may need to change

the Chroma SubSampling to the first

selection: YCbCr 1x1 1x1 1x1 (None)

Be sure to use your preview screen when

saving either way...check the detail of the

frames as well as the graphic. Use what's

best for what you are using.

AfterThoughts:

The testers tried different kinds of fills just

to thoroughly explore different kinds of

fills besides the gold.

A dark red gradient fill turned out pretty

kewl all the way around!

Gradients and Fills using ULead Effects

did not work too good with the choices

that we tried.

A medium Light colored Wood texture

done pretty decent but the Mosaic effect

lacked that something special.

An orange color fill was tried and it looked

good except for the Mosaic effect again.

Just not enough color/shade variation in

the fills to make the Mosaic have the impact

that it should have.

I tried adding FMTools Blend Emboss

after the Mosaic was applied and that

seemed to help it some but lightening of

that area was noticed. Desired or not???

Maybe.

In conclusion I believe that if you want to

go for quality of the frame go gif.

For a small file size go for the JPG.

If you are going to make SB's use gif for

those.

Hope you make some really kewl creations

from this tutorial.

We had kewl results coming from the testers

as we worked on it!

Hooty
